Just when you think your year couldn’t get any worse, the Goat Demon Krampus has you on his naughty list. Krampus is a supernatural creature - a large anthropomorphic goat demon, bearing a muscular jet black skinned body, thick black fur, cloven hooves, and goat-like horns on his forehead. A long tongue, sharp teeth and tusks, and a set of claws complete his terrifying appearance, one that was codified in Germanic Folklore. Some of the legends portray him more as a man-goat hybrid, with a human face being the key difference, but the modern day Krampus is very much portrayed as a goat demon. He is dressed very lightly, if at all. A backpack with his basket and sack is slung around his shoulders. Steel shackles are wrapped around his wrists, with short chain links attached to each, rattling and making noise as he moves. A ragged red loincloth is the only remaining piece of clothing on his body, hiding a flared, equine shaft and heavy balls to match. He is typically seen carrying a bushel of birch sticks, used to beat and spank his victims. He is Santa Claus’ right hand man, and his job is to punish those who end up on the “Naughty List” - the ones who, usually, would get little more than coal for Christmas. Those who find themselves staring Krampus down in their bedroom at night is in for a hell of a night. The legends vary, but it’s been said that he beats those who “earn” his presence with a bushel of birch tree branches. Depending on the story and the person, he has also kidnapped some on the list by shoving them into a sack. In that sack, he carries them away to parts unknown just to torture them further before (allegedly) drowning them. Still other stories are even worse, saying he devours some of his victims alive and drops others off in hell, where they burn for all eternity. Of course, with all these legends being little more than that, nobody really knows for sure what happens to a poor soul after they encounter Krampus. Because of his reputation as a being who punishes those on the naughty list, however, many have lusted over the monster, hoping that one day, he will pay them a visit.
