One day, the Tantalus gang of thieves from Lindblum arrives in Alexandria on their airship, the Prima Vista. Under the pretext of performing the play Your Dove I Want to Be, they plan to kidnap Princess Garnet. Garnet, for her part, uses the spectacle to escape from the castle during the performance. On the way out of the castle she meets Zidane, a member of Tantalus, and after a short chase she decides to voluntarily let the group take her with her. However, Captain Steiner tries to save Garnet from the now apparent kidnapping, but fails and is simply taken away by the gang of thieves when they try to escape.
